After becoming involved in high school theatrics in Los Angeles, actress Lucy DeVito confirmed her study of theater at Brown University. She later moved to New York, where she was cast as the title character in the new play “Lucy,” by Damien Atkins, at the Ensemble Studio Theatre.

DeVito was most recently seen in the critically-acclaimed “The Secret Art of Human Flight,” alongside Paul Raci, which released in theaters in July 2024 in the US,.

In 2023 Lucy made her Broadway debut in a play called I NEED THAT, which she performed at the Roundabout Theatre. The play was written by American playwright Theresa Rebeck, specifically for Lucy and her father Danny DeVito. On stage, DeVito worked with Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron in the original readings of their play LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT WORE. She performed the play many times in New York at the Westside Theater and in Los Angeles at the Geffen Playhouse. Among her other plays are Stefanie Zadravec's THE ELECTRIC BABY (directed by May Adrales), Bruce Graham's ANY GIVEN MONDAY, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, in which she played Anne, and David Grimm’s THE MIRACLE AT NAPLES directed by Peter Dubois, BUMP, HOT MESS, HOW MY GRANDPARENTS FELL IN LOVE, and STEEL MAGNOLIAS.

In television, she was most recently heard voicing the lead character in FXX’s “Little Demon,” for which she also served as one of the executive producers, through production company Jersey Films 2nd Ave. Real life father Danny DeVito voiced the role of her character’s father, and also served as an executive producer.

DeVito now serves as the Co-President of Jersey Films 2nd Ave. Through the production company, she first acted in and produced the adapted short story “Curmudgeons,” in 2016, alongside father Danny DeVito who also directed, and brother Jake DeVito who was also a producer on the project. She runs the company alongside them both, and they recently optioned the rights to Dan Fagin’s non-fiction book “Toms River,” about the families of that New Jersey seaside town trying to hold the government and companies accountable for damage caused by industrial waste in the region.

Other recent television credits include “Alask’Car,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Shameless,” television film “A Cinderella Christmas” and two seasons Hulu’s original series “Deadbeat” in 2014-2015. She made her way into television in the ABC Family sitcom "Melissa and Joey," with Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, playing Melissa's assistant and friend for two seasons. DeVito has also made appearances in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," "Dirt" and "Crumbs."

DeVito’s first big film role when Tim Blake Nelson cast her in “Leaves of Grass,” alongside Edward Norton. Recent films include “The List,” “Menorah in the Middle,” “Blonde,” “Jumanji: The Next Level,” Tim Burton’s “Dumbo,” and Taylor Hackford’s “The Comedian.” Previous film credits include Mike Birbiglia's “Sleepwalk With Me,” “A Quiet Little Marriage,” “Syrup,” “Beware the Gonzo” and “Just Add Water.”

She lives in Los Angeles and New York.
