Fred Melamed was born and raised in New York City. He has won both critical and popular acclaim. Recently, he was named by New York Magazine's survey of distinguished critics and film professionals as one of The 32 Greatest Character Actors Living Today. A Yale Drama School graduate, he has won both the Independent Spirit and Voice Lifetime Achievement acting awards, and was short-listed for an Oscar for his performance in the Coen Brothers’ classic, A Serious Man. For that performance, Melamed was listed by Harry Domenico Rossi as one of The 25 Greatest Screen Villains of All Time. He has hundreds of film and television credits, and literally thousands of commercials and promos on the air as a voice actor, notably as the signature voice of Mercedes Benz, CBS Sports, Boar’s Head, Burger King, USA Network, The Olympics, and The Superbowl. On television, Melamed currently stars in the Ryan Murphy hit series American Crime Story: Impeachment, the popular HBO/MAX comedy, Barry, the Marvel/Disney juggernaut, WandaVision, and the upcoming Hulu blockbuster, Reboot. In the past, he has starred on Curb Your Enthusiasm, New Girl, Brooklyn 99 and Lady Dynamite, to name but a few. His slate of films includes the breakout hit Shiva Baby, Cat Person, Hail, Caesar!, In a World…, and 7 collaborations with Woody Allen, more than any other actor besides Mia Farrow and Allen, himself. He has taught at Yale University, The University of Minnesota and New York University.
